Frequently Asked Questions

Only employers may apply. Individual employees cannot apply directly. Employers who are accepted will nominate eligible full-time or part-time employees.

Yes. This program is designed to strengthen the South Florida workforce. Employees must be based in Miami-Dade or Broward County to be eligible for nomination.

The program includes a full scholarship covering all course materials. A nonrefundable $30 application fee applies for all new students, and an additional nonrefundable payment processing fee may also apply.

Employers can choose from three options, based on employee needs and experience: AI Skills Clinics is a 4-week, non-credit program with Saturday sessions and online learning; AI Awareness Certificate is a 1-semester, 9-credit college program with no AI background required; AI Practitioner Certificate is a 3-semester, 18-credit college program for deeper technical training.

Yes. Employers can match employees to the program best aligned with their role, goals, and skill level.

You may sponsor up to 10 employees. Fewer are allowed, depending on your needs and available program space.

The priority deadline is August 31, 2025, but programs may fill before then. We encourage early submission.

You will need to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with MDC, select and support your nominated employees, and share feedback on how the training has affected your organization.

Complete the interest form on this page. An MDC representative will follow up to finalize the MOU and confirm your available seats.

Yes. MDC can tailor the non-credit Clinics to align with your team’s roles, goals, or business units.

Most programs offer flexible options, including in-person, online, or hybrid formats. Courses are available at several MDC campuses — including Wolfson (Downtown Miami), Kendall, West (Doral), and North (North Miami). Availability varies by semester and by program.

The program must be completed on or before September 30, 2026. Participants enrolled in college credit certificates may skip a semester, provided they still finish their program by this deadline.

Yes. Both the AI Awareness (9 credits) and AI Practitioner (18 credits) College Credit Certificates are stackable toward MDC’s Associate of Science in Artificial Intelligence, and may ultimately support a path to a bachelor’s degree.

Employees who voluntarily withdraw after the official drop deadline must reimburse MDC for the full cost of tuition and required materials. However, if an employee leaves their job involuntarily (e.g., layoff or restructuring), their scholarship will not be interrupted, and they may continue the program if they still meet eligibility requirements.
